Prime Guardian Mission 4 Black Ocean Astral Prime eBook JS Morin MA Larkin Reviews

This episode was sort of a wrap up of the arc started in book 1. I enjoyed the conflicts the characters went through and think that the series has a great base for further episodes. I liked all the characters save for one (he could have remained in the garbage chute!) and will look forward to their further adventures.

A very enjoyable resolution to the story line built up over the last few books. There are still plenty of loose ends and unanswered questions to keep the fun coming. While the original crew seems to be going their own ways, they will all no doubt continue to be involved in each others lives. This is a worthy addition to the black ocean universe.

I'm so glad Morin went back to the Black Ocean style of books. These first 4 Astral Prime missions have been solid. Good storylines, good action, and enough twists and turns to keep you hooked for each mission. As always, my only negative comment is that the missions are so short. I really wish the books were longer. Other than that though, definitely worth the read!

So, here we are, three species, four factions, ready to fight each other for control of the advanced technologies on the rogue planet. The space station claims salvage rights, the others want military control, and the wizard deems himself caretaker of everything on the planet! When the fighting starts, it is unclear who will come out ahead. Action-packed and fast-paced, this magical fantasy sci-fi series has something for everyone! Will there be more? Great read! I received an advanced reader copy free and have voluntarily chosen to leave an honest review.
It happened again. A Black Ocean story wormed its way into the depths of my brain and pops up and makes me think about it at random times. I definitely enjoyed this last installment of the first Astral Prime mission pack, and look forward to new stories about this new cast. There are so many possibilities.

Pros Brilliant worldbuilding which includes adding to the mythos of the Black Ocean universe without getting unnecessarily dense and complicated (in other words, they sailed right past the X-files trap). Sets the scene for continuing the story (yay!). Holds true to that quirky science/tech mix that is one of the things that makes Black Ocean so wonderful.
Cons I had a harder time connecting with this cast than I did with the cast of the first stories. No other cons. That's it.

If you enjoyed DS9 and the first Black Ocean books, go read it!

I was given an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. It wouldn't matter since I have purchased everything else in this series and would have done so for this book. The book is an excellent followup to the previous three giving us intrigue and excitement as things come to a head regarding the ownership of the planet below. I think one of my favorite things is the expansion of the other races. In the original Black Ocean series many of these were mentioned in passing and are now becoming fleshed out for future books. All in all this book continues the legacy of the Black Ocean series very well and I would like to thank Mr. Morin for taking us on yet another journey into his galaxy.
This last (?) episode of Astral Prime was one of those reads where you couldnt quite predict what was going to happen but kinda knew in the back of your mind how things would eventually turn out in the end, but that didn't stop the authors from keeping things interesting in between.

The diabolical ways the ambassadors lied to each other was hilarious.
Hiroko almost having a breakdown was not.

Kane being fired was a whoop! Him escaping the station was not.

There were so many moments like these...one moment you're feeling good, laughing even, the next you're feeling bad for these characters. But, that's the great thing about this book. The characters are so real. So well written. The authors deserve many accolades for their efforts on writting for these characters!

I've throughly enjoyed reading this series. I hope this is not the end of these characters!

Many thanks to J. S. Morin and M. A. Larkin for the advanced readers copy. In return I offer this completely unbiased review.
