"The Sisters" are two CIA eccentric master plotters. Francis, given to wearing outrageous bow ties and Carroll, who favored 3-piece suits, starched collars and had a penchant for chocolate candy. Francis regularly beat the lie-detector machine during his annual tests. They conceived their ultimate project. The absolute perfect crime. The assassination of a high political figure they deemed dangerous to the future of the U.S. The intriguing plot required the unknowing recruitment of ,the Potter,a top Soviet novator who had been in charge of training sleeper agents. The plan was to activate a sleeper agent who had been an excellent Soviet army sniper. The sleeper was the best graduate of the Potter's school. Further, the Potter considered him to be the son he had never had. The plan was that when it was discovered who had committed the murder the Soviets would be blamed. When in fact it had been a CIA plot aided by the complicity of the KGB. The time frame was of course during the Cold War. The plot had many parallels to the Kennedy assassination. Other interesting characters were the blind man, a director of KGB Department 13,two Canadian killers used by the Russians as sweepers, and G. Sprowls, a Company utility fielder, who specialized in tying up loose ends. Truly a fast moving excellent and enjoyable read.

At some point in its life, this paperback book had gotten wet or damp and is somewhat warped; I think the seller (Quality Bargain Mall) should have noted this in the description of the item.
This was a thinly veiled account of fictional characters involved in the JFK assassination. Prince of the realm, patchy knoll. One shooter caught and then shot. It does not take place in the eightys as previously stated in reviews. This was the JFK assassination in 1963 no doubt or a fictional copy cat of events. The Company is still Littells best work. This is OK, but not in the same caliber as The Company.
The Sisters is a complicated spy thriller evidently wrirtten by a man who has solid background in the espionage field. It is very dark in tone, and portrays a strange world. I thought it was very well done and I liked it a lot, but you have to be in the mood evoked by Littell to really relish it.
I believe that "The Sisters" is a very interesting book, well written and very close to the truth of the assassination of JFK.
Terrific. Well plotted. Suspenseful.
But that is not saying much. At least the plot is linear instead of fragmented and there aren't pages and pages of introspection. The ending is a disappointing gimmick. Save your money.
Having read other books by same author, I picked this title and found an unexpected surprise. Twists and turns led to a an unexpected ending.
